Tell us about yourself.
I work in a variety of materials. Mostly, I make abstract stone carvings, though lately I've been doing more contemporary/modern/conceptual art, which often has social commentary as part of it's purpose. My gargoyles and other small pieces in plaster and cement are influenced by mythology, architectural ornament and classical statuary, and are my original designs.

NEWS FLASH! The AcoustiCar has returned to the building, and is residing outside my studio on the fifth floor. Come play a tune on this little hod rod... it's hood is a xylophone, the bumper bellows pump antique wooden organ pipes, and the trunk houses a slap tube instrument reminiscent of the Blue Man Group.

CARVING UPDATE:
1) I've started to work on carving the tree stump on Luce Street in Lowell. Glenn Szegedy has finished his and it looks great! We've both been asked by Martha Mayo to carve something out of the two large Norway Maple tree stumps, after her grant application was approved by the Lowell Cultural Council.

2) I've finished the granite carvings for the Concord River Greenway, designed by Wopo Holup and commissioned by the Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust, Inc. The five Swallows will go at the Lawrence Street entrance to the Greenway, and the Pileated Woodpecker will go near the bridge to Centennial Park. Click on "The Sculptors Studio" image below to see images of them "in progress".

SEE YOU SOON!

House is ROCKIN'!

Wow... Western Avenue is looking great! It's been amazing to see the transformation over the past five years, and with the annual Lowell Open Studios comes the annual sprucing up of the place. It's LOOKIN' GOOD!

I can see why you couldn't make this in your studio . . . but Jay, are you sure you are going to get that out of the basement?
